Characters Taken from the original story book series- Away with the Fairies - By Mary Murphy

Through the fairy door, we find ourselves in a mystical land, where Mary tells us stories of the Royal Ó Murchú fairy clan, and other woodland creatures that dwell here. Below we have the Ã“ Murchú family, and some of the other forest dwellers.

Violet Ã“ Murchú

Violet(4) is the youngest of the royal Ó Murchú fairy children and is wise beyond her years. She is very much like her mother the Queen. She is verbose, loves to make people laugh and tends to put her individual stamp on life. While she might seem fragile to others due to her disability, she is assuredly positive minded and strong willed. She also feels the need come to the aid of the underdog, but this does not always serve her.

Oona Ã“ Murchú

The second youngest. Oona (6) is the most curious and rebellious of them all, and it's no secret. She is quick witted and a bit of a fun loving trickster whose mischievousness can be very entertaining to those around her but she also finds solace in spending time alone to ponder the world and her place within it. Her fuzzy hair makes her even more charismatic to others. She and Paulette share a love of all things mysterious.

Rónán Ã“ Murchú
Micil Ã“ Murchú

The youngest middle child, Rónán (8) is a deep thinker with a sharp wit. He is a great listener and feels an inherent need for the community to live in harmony. Even in crisis, Rónán is the one who will remain calm and collected while sorting out a solution. In general, he is perceived to be more of a homebody then the rest of them but will search for adventure if the spirit takes him. He also has able to multitask when needed.

Eiblhín Ó Murchú

The second eldest child, Eiblhín (10) is fun loving, adventurous and always willing to help, though she isn't very organized. She is a very good teacher by way of example and has a happy go lucky attitude toward life. Though she does not feel left out, she chooses to go off on her own sometimes. She is a charmer who gets along with everyone and is like a second mother to the two youngest children. She doesn't like to feel scared and is a morel thinker.

The eldest middle child, Micil, (9) has innovative ideas and is hands on, but is a bit of a shy fellow. He has a great love of life sciences and he finds it vitally important impart his knowledge to others in an enthusiastic way. He, like Rónán, sees Nash (the brownie) as an Uncle of sorts. He wants to be the hero who saves the day, but his passion for learning can at times override the need to focus on the matter at hand.

Paulette Ó Murchú

The eldest Ó Murchú child is Paulette (12), She  is protective, wise and patient with a strong sense of right and wrong. She has a great memory and likes order and mystery in her life. As the reliable eldest, she is confidant in her actions and regularly advises the king and queen on family and life matters. She has a strong desire to be a caretaker, which bodes well since she may well one day be queen.

King Maly Ã“ Murchú

The father of the Irish fairy children. He is kind, but is also a stickler when it comes to things like table manners and politeness. Generally though, saying no to his offspring is something he rarely does. He is an older king with a wonderful sense of humour and a loving nature who dotes upon his queen. He tends to be forgetful and is hard of hearing but is not bothered by these traits. He is assuredly a free spirit who encourages others to be the same.

Queen Brísa Ã“ Murchú

The mother of the fairy children as well as the main leader of both the Irish Ó Murchú clan and the surrounding inhabitants. She is extremely responsible and caring of all in the community. She is the authority, and sees herself as the 'captain of the ship.' She is a powerful queen who keeps the community strong and united. She is the rock, the wise one, but also the one who serves as the giver of unconditional love to all. She also teachers her children to be responsible for their actions.

Nash The Dash

Half brownie/half leprechaun, this engaging Irish/Scottish scamp, who though mischievous, is loved by all due to his charming nature. Master of words and inventions, he is especially looked up to by the fairy boys who see him as an esteemed uncle of sorts. Nash does have a tendency to 'borrow' things from unsuspecting humans, but will generally do or leave something in return to keep his honour uninjured.

Mercon The Mouse

O what a lovestruck fellow he is. He dreams of a life with Minar but is too shy to approach. Luckily the  Ó Murchú fairy children come to his aid. Mercon is sweet natured, extremely loyal and a bit of a dreamer. He is also a whizz when it comes to fixing things.

Minar The Mouse

Minar is a most endearing and beautiful wee thing who is the love interest of Mercon and it is she, who must make the first bold step in their courtship. Minar is the one to call upon should any creature be in need of nurturing. It is upon her door that injured forest dwellers knock if the need arises.

Johhny Waddles

An Italian mallard duckling who is born with a horrid fear of rain. He does however, grow up to be a wise adult and becomes an 'Advice Ducktor.'
